Sean serves his
students by teaching them not only how to play, but how to practice and
learn as well. He tailors his lessons to the individual student. A
compromise of what they want to learn as well as what he wants them to
learn. Sean teaches beginners through advanced students. He is honored to
teach drum lessons as he is allowed the privilege of passing his experience
and knowledge on and watching his students grow in their ability and
musicianship. He feels it a joy to see the confidence build when someone
discovers their talent.
Sean expects his students
to work hard and practice regularly but to also have fun while doing it. He
feels that most of the development of the student will come through
dedicated practice. He believes that a student’s lesson plan should be
clearly planned and directed; this will eliminate confusion and wasted time.
Sean is accessible to his students for questions or consult beyond the
half-hour or hour weekly lesson through phone, email or Internet group.
A point that Sean likes
to pass onto his students is that you can never stop learning. He feels that
no matter how long you have done something, there is always something else
to learn. It's all about attitude. Once you give up on trying to learn
something new every time you practice, doors will close on you. He believes
that the secret to success in anything is made up of deciding what you want
to do, start doing it without stopping. Drumming does a lot for
self-esteem, confidence and coordination (physically and intellectually).
